Traditional Island Animal husbandry - Podogiros Family - Kea – Islands of Cyclades
Kea or, as it is best known, Tzia, is the closest island to Attica the peninsula where Athens is located. The trip by ferry takes about 1 hour. The island belonging to the Cyclades cluster, has its own exceptional beauty and a natural environment that brand it as a unique destination for vacation or short escapes. The famous dual-purpose cow of Kea, which today is threatened by extinction, belongs to the island livestock farming tradition, is capable to exploit the sparse local resources but with satisfactory meat and milk yields and provides products of excellent quality. The contact with the livestock tradition of the island, the food, the sea, the shops and the beautiful routes, give a very good reasoning for a day trip on sea and land to this destination. Please note that the return time is indicative.
