Dear Colleagues and Friends,
It is our pleasure and honour to invite you to the International Conference and Annual General Assembly of the European Livestock and Meat Trading Union (UECBV) and the Young European Meat Committee (YEMCo), which are being organised in Athens by the Greek Interprofessional Meat Organisation (EDOK), from the 7th to the 9th of November 2019.
The main theme of the event involves the future challenges to be confronted by the sector. Emphasis will be placed on the need to reinforce human resources with capable executives, the introduction of new technologies to respond to the lack of specialised workers, and the development of trade relations both within and outside the EU, in the Balkan area, the north-eastern Mediterranean and the Near East.
The Annual General Assembly is UECBV’s most important event of the year. It offers its members and friends the opportunity to meet and exchange views about the meat sector, attempt comparisons with other sectors, present innovative proposals and agree on a realistic development plan for the future of the sector.
Meeting colleagues and old friends at the Conference, from all over Europe and beyond, is also very important. Furthermore, participants will have the chance to make new friends, agree on cooperation, arrange professional meetings and conclude agreements.
Athens, the host city of the events, and the conference venue, will offer a unique working environment. The beginning of November is an excellent time for visiting Greece and Athens as the weather is still very pleasant, while the main tourist flow has subsided. The colours in the south of Europe are still vivid and nature is inspiring. We will be particularly honoured to have you participate in the professional events and meetings, while enjoying traditional Greek hospitality and culture at the same time.
We look forward to welcoming you all to Athens in November 2019.
The President of EDOK
